ANGIE RATTAY / Graphic Designer
The Austrian born graphic designer Angie Rattay, spent much of her youth outdoors. Many discoveries were made on roller skates or on her beloved skateboard, bushes and trees were her sand-pit of choice and she loved to be close to animals and nature.
From an early age, her parents took her walking in the mountains, where she soon came to love and respect the beauty of our planet. Early on she developed a sense for creativity combined with business acumen, selling her paintings (as a school child) to her family.
After primary and secondary school, she graduated from commerce academy having specialized in international marketing, with Japanese as a second foreign language. During these business-dominated years she never lost her passion for creativity.
After a short stay at the Technical University of Vienna studying architecture, she was accepted at the Universitiy of Applied Arts to study graphic design. She had found her passion and has never regretted her move to the two-dimensional world: “It was the best decision I have ever made!”, as graphic design offered an ideal combination of business and creativity. She soon recognized the power of design and started to focus on ecological and social design, reading Papaneks “Design for the real world” and books by Buckminster Fuller or Tibor Kalman.
Rattay graduated in 2006, with the diploma project “Planet Earth – Directions for Use”.
In 2008 she founded her own studio “Angieneering – Design for Good” and charity “Neongreen Network” with which she organizes the biggest environmental lecture event in Austria.
Angie Rattay lives and works in Vienna and tries to change the world by design, every second of her life.
